PARADE DETAILS!!  SUNDAY, November 27th!  Downtown North Attleboro

New this year Mr. Steve Longa, Mr.Steve Conrad and Angel Chu have been working on a great SURPRISE for our program!  YES – they have designed a great FLOAT which we will be entering in the float competition!
Just what the float is – is STILL a surprise for you!  But please realize that our marchers will be joining the float as explained below.  You will all be very proud to be part of this great day for all of our Mites & Squirts.
Please remember to have players wear their GAME JERSEYS and coaches – North Hockey jackets and baseball hats if you have them!
Players remember to bring a Santa hat if you have one and if not we will have some extras to provide.

Please meet at the BAPTIST COMMON in North Attleboro no later than 2:20!

Our parade coordinators Angel Chu and Steve Longa will be there to check our program in and provide direction to our group.   -

Angel Chu – 401-588-2899

Steve Longa – 774-254-3833

This year they will be judging the groups in front of the LIBRARY, the BANK OF AMERICA and the POST OFFICE.  Each group has been asked to stop  and “engage the crowd” for a minute at these locations.
You will be receiving ONE ADDITIONAL EMAIL on Friday or Saturday which will explain what we will ask the players to do.

This information will also be posted on the North Hockey website at www.northhockey.goalline.ca
The weather is supposed to be nice so we are really looking forward to a great day for everyone!!

Smile big and GO NORTH

PARKING:
PLEASE no parking on North Washington Street.  We are worried about marcher and spectator safety and the police will be patrolling and asking people to not park on the street.  There is also NO parking in St. Mary's lot.
Here is additional parking information:
We will have a shuttle using BIG RED (Park & Rec bus) from the parking lot behind Sweet Works on East Street.  This is known locally as the Bottomley Properties.  Shuttles will run between 2:15 & 2:40. This will aid in an easy get away at the end of the parade and less walking at the beginning.
Additional lots:
  • Community School on Barrow’s Street
  • Municipal lot on Church Street
  • Woodcock School between Banks Street & Richards Ave
  • PolyMet on Broad Street (between Whiting & School Street)
PARADE ROUTE CHANGES  -- see map attached
Reminder the parade ends this year at Veteran's Park not Chestnut Street.  Marchers should be met in the park for pick up.  There is also a tree light at the park followed by take your own photos with Santa in Town Halls for those that are interested.

Check in for Marcher's Only will be at Baptist Common by the 911 Memorial.  Check in for Floats only will be at Polymet.  For dance schools, Scouts, schools, sporting groups where there may be marchers and a float, please have the children meet at Baptist Common with an adult leader who will check in at the Common and someone else will check in at Polymet and directed to their position.  There will be signs directing each group where to go.

JUDGING
We have listened and have changed the judging this year to take place in front of the Post Office.  To make this happen it is vital that there is one person who is paying attention to signs and volunteers along the route.  We are asking groups to pause in front of the library, Bank of America and the Post Office to do a 1 minute (ish) routine.  If you are a float only, pause your float then proceed (or just drive even slower if that is better).  We are hoping this will prevent some of the holes in the parade from past year.   PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU.  I know this is difficult when you are in the middle of the parade but in addition to not wanting any holes in the parade, we also don't want any accidents.

FLOATS
Floats check in at Polymet by 2:30 --- specific times will be sent according to your staging location.

PICKUP
Remind parents/guardians to pick up kids at Veteran's Park in front of Town Hall.

  • Pay attention to the group in front of you at all times.  Pause to do a short performance if there is space behind you to allow the group behind you to catch up.  If you are a marching group only -- scouts or sports, pause and engage the crowd.
  • There will be volunteers to slow and stop groups in front of the Post Office to allow groups to perform.  This will back up everyone behind them so please be aware of the group in front of you.
  • SMILE for North TV located just before the Post Office (new location).  Each year groups complain they were not on TV.  The reason is they raced so fast they didn't make the shot.  Slow down, this isn't a race but a parade.

Thank you all and HAVE FUN!

Patti
