NORTH HOCKEY NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER, 2010

The season is flying by! By now, you must realize the time and effort put forth by all the members of our program! Your coaches donate endless hours of their time, knowledge  and energy to teach the skills of hockey to your child.  As you can see by the emails and communications you receive, your team administrators find it important to keep the team informed and cohesive. Success is measured both on and off the ice. Not only is the game of hockey taught, but much more – player dedication, hard work toward a common goal, respect, consideration, teamwork, pride and dignity, values and skills are all immeasurable  lessons learned within this year of growing. The North Hockey Board, made up of parents and coaches, strives to make decisions that keep the best interest of the players in mind. This is YOUR program! As this past weekend showed, those dedicated to the success of this program, donated their time to help can! This volunteer effort gained our program much recognition and community awareness, not to mention the funds which help to keep our program costs down. With the help of our program members and players, we were able to raise $2350.00! We thank you ALL for supporting our continued efforts and our program! We have a LOT of activities coming up in the near future so read below to keep informed! Your team admins will keep you reminded but mark your calendars to save those dates! As always, if you have any concerns or questions, FEEL FREE to contact me with anything. Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving Holiday with your families… Thank you.

NEW DIRECTION FOR MITE HOCKEY

On Thursday, November 4th, there will be a MASSACHUSETTS HOCKEY meeting held to discuss the future direction of the USA Hockey Mite Division. Beginning in 2011, all USA Hockey Mite programs will be CROSS ICE GAMES. Direct from USA Hockey in Colorado, Mr. Kevin Cavanaugh, will be on hand at the Wareham Elks Hall at 7:00pm SHARP, to discuss the future direction of Mite level hockey. Many programs across the country have already implemented this new CROSS ICE play, and Massachusetts is ready to implement in 2011. Please consider attending this important meeting to ask questions and learn more!

TOURNAMENTS!

Our NORTH HOCKEY teams are having fun living it up at local tournaments! Although we had no Champions at the recent Halloween Classic, hosted by the Woonsocket North Stars, they did have a good time! Over the Holiday break, our Mite A and Pee Wee teams will partake in the Christmas Cup at the Walpole Iorio Arena, our Squirt B will be part of the Snowflake Tournament and our Squirt A will head to Barnstable to take on our southern neighbors on the Cape! Your team administrators and Coaches will be providing information to you shortly.

GREAT STRIDES!

North Hockey strives to offer a competitive level of hockey to each of our teams and to each of our participants. Our skills sessions are offered to improve the individual player. North Hockey believes that a player is never too old for skills and never too good to stop improving. In the upcoming weeks, we are providing a checking clinic to our Pee Wee and Middle School players. We have entered a combined Squirt A & B team into a league in Marlboro at the New England Sport Center. We have joined forces with the CDL Selects to offer the CLASSIC ALLIANCE to those who may be looking for a higher level of competition for their child. Our Mite A team AND our Squirt B teams have both moved up to the A divisions in the Neponset Valley League. Our Squirt A is playing in an NEH League in Walpole this year. These are all examples of ways we attempt to improve and to provide further opportunities to your players. All of these decisions are discussed at our monthly NORTH HOCKEY Board meetings. If you would like to become more involved, please join us at our next meeting on Thursday, November 19th, 7:30pm at the Falls AC in North Attleboro.

That’s it! Thank you for reading and staying tuned in!

Here’s wishing you all a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
