2017 Mite Development at DEVILS HOCKEY!
2017-03-01
Devils Families and Friends,
There is a current misconception that we are not running our ‘Mighty Mite’ program this coming year. I am sending this email to address this and to let you know that this is not entirely true.
While we will not be calling it ‘Mighty Mites’ this year, the Devils Hockey Program will, in fact, still be running this less-competitive version of our Mite travel program and rebranding it as the ‘Mite Development Team’ (replacing the Mighty Mite Team).
This team is designed for players 5-8 years old that may not be quite ready to play at the more competitive level. The minimum requirements for entry into the Mite Development System is a basic ability to skate. As such, certification from a Learn to Skate program or an on-ice assessment may be requested. If you think you qualify, then I would encourage you to sign up for our Mite Development Team.
If you’d like your player to still be considered for a position on one of our higher Mite teams (Mite A, B, or C), then please plan on attending the Mite Evaluations scheduled for March 14th from 5-6pm at the New England Sports Village. If your player does not qualify for placement on one of those teams, he/she will be offered a spot on our Mite Development team provided the basic skating qualifications are met.
Players under the age of 5 will be assessed individually and would likely be recommended for attendance at one of the local ‘Learn to Play’ sessions to prepare them for entry into our Mite program.
I encourage you to consider our new Mite Development Team and to contact me or any other current Mite Coach for any additional information.
Hope to see your little hockey players out there soon!
Regards,
Patti McTernan
President, Devils Hockey
