OTHER INFO!
NORTH DEVILS COACH’S AWARD
At our recent End of Year Banquet, Shawn Horgan was awarded the “Coach’s Award. Vice President, Paul Brooks commended Shawn’s commitment to the players and his love of the game. Shawn continues to keep our players motivated and offer his talents to our players. He loves each of these players and sees them as individuals, each having their own skill and talent, which he hopes to help them expand on. It’s not always about being the “best” – it’s about the commitment and hard work that you put into it, which he recognizes. He volunteers many hours to contribute to this programs success. Being one of the founding members of this program, he has made this program a huge part of his life and commitment. He is dedicated to it’s success and to the success of each of the players as they continue through the program and on to High School. We thank you Shawn and Congratulate you on being the recipient of the 2015-2016 North Devils Coach’s Award.

SOUTH SHORE KINGS SEEKING FAMILIES INTERESTED IN BILLETING PLAYERS
The South Shore Kings organization is seeking 12 families interested in billeting an out-of-state player coming to play junior hockey for the upcoming 16-17 season. The compensation is $3150.00 ($450 a month). The players would live in your home from the end of August through early March depending on the season start and end. They ask that the player have their own room with a bed and bureau and breakfast and dinner is available. Some families house 2 players that share a room. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Heather Sicchio, the SSK Housing Coordinator at

THANK YOU FROM THE FORD FAMILY
Thank you to all of the North Devils families that generously donated to the Ford Family after their home fire last month. Thanks to your contribution we were able to assemble a great basket of gift cards and gifts to show our support for them during this difficult time. Below is an email received from the Ford Family…
We want to thank you and the entire North Devils family for the kind thoughts and generosity. It's mind blowing and words cannot describe how wonderful it was to read all of the thoughtful notes from folks we've never met. We live in such a great community and although we are in a very tough situation, we feel so lucky to have the support of our extended family, North Attleboro. As much as we wanted to write individual notes to all the families, I'm not sure it's possible. If you could be our voice in communicating with them and letting them know how grateful we are and that their words and generosity have touched us all, that would be fantastic. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
Warm thoughts,
Kim, Brian, Taylor, Conor and Tessie Ford
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
I would like to welcome NEW Board members, Jeff Augusta, Pete Butt, Jim Calvino, Gregg Colonna and Marty Feeney to our 2016-2017 Devils Hockey Board! We welcome them and are excited to have some new faces joining us to take on the challenge of another year! I’d also like to send a sincere thank you to outgoing members, Jim Meech and John Gugliotta. Their commitment to the board over the past several years is very much appreciated. Thank you for your dedication to the players and the program and we wish you both much luck in your continued endeavors.
THANK YOU’S
Each year as the season comes to an end, there are many individuals who need to be thanked. These people contribute throughout the year to help make our program a success. Take a minute if you get a chance to thank them for their tireless efforts to provide your child this hockey experience. Without the help of many, many individuals we would not be here today.
BOARD MEMBERS – This year we say good bye to two longtime members of our board who have been major contributors to the program. JIM MEECH and JOHN GUGLIOTTA. These guys have been a part of our monthly meetings making important decisions for our players and program. They will be sorely missed but we wish them only continued success and opportunity as they move on.
JIM KELLY – Jim is the “means behind the scenes”! He is responsible for the ordering, sizing and distribution of our uniforms. He tracks the jersey “numbers’ so we have no duplicates, he gathers orders and places the order so our players will all be prepared for game one of the season! All while everyone else has moved on to “Spring and Summer” mode! Thank you to Jim for his time and dedication to this very time consuming and detail oriented task.
HARRY KOJOIAN – Many of you may know Harry but hardly know the hours and hours he contributes to keep us financially on track. He is our program treasurer and is one person who truly knows and experiences the amount of work it takes for a programs existence to be stable. I thank Harry for being a true “backbone” to this organization. His dedication is truly appreciated.
COACHES and TEAM ADMINS – Our coaches cannot be recognized enough for their endless hours of planning practices, and attending practices and games. They juggle their own families, many times providing rides for others, missing family dinners, passing on plans with other friends, perhaps leaving work a little “early” or doing a little “hockey” while at work. In addition they are required to attend coaching clinics put on by USA Hockey and take online teaching modules. Many are board members also. This takes dedication and loyalty to your children. Only sincere passion and love for the game can motivate this character. We are fortunate to have such wonderful role models for the children in this organization. I cannot thank them enough.
Our team admins, are our endlessly committed “cheerleaders” and “moms” for all. It takes a lot to reach out to parents numerous times when it feels like you’re being a pain in the neck! It’s difficult to ask for money many times over, it’s hard to gather responses in order to properly plan practices and events. But they all do it with perseverance and class! Again, knowing that this is what it takes for this all to work. They see beyond so we can be successful. Thank you to all of you for your amazing contribution to the Devils Hockey Family.
Our Board Members, Coaches and Team Admins make many sacrifices each and every day. They will place others first. They will place other children ahead of their own at times. They will forego many personal commitments to remain committed to their responsibilities to the team. They may at times be overwhelmed. They will get tired and feel like giving up sometimes. But they won’t. It’s the life of a volunteer. They will stick with it because the rewards are many. The smiles on the faces of the players being number one. The friendships developed and the commitment to each other is something that only those who give can feel.
I thank them for their support of me. They do not realize that they keep me motivated. They attend multiple meetings, they returns calls when I call them at all hours, they listen to my concerns, they work with me through issues that arise. I can call each of them at any time (and I do!) to help me “talk out” an issue. I truly do not know what I would do without them and I am grateful for the friendships that I have formed with these members.
I am so very grateful that we have the very best VOLUNTEERS in the NORTH DEVILS HOCKEY program… Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you do. I cannot thank you enough…
That’s about it for now! Again, please know that we will be sending out details for the upcoming season over the course of the summer. Please take the time to read them so you can be prepared!
You are all the BEST!!! Enjoy your last few weeks of summer and SEE YOU AT THE RINKS SOON!!!!!
Sincerely,
Patti McTernan, President, On behalf of the North Devils Hockey Board, 508-507-1952
