NORTH DEVILS
YOUTH HOCKEY PROGRAM 2015-2016 Season
November, 2015
I hope that everyone has recuperated from their Thanksgiving Holiday and enjoyed time spent with family, friends and loved ones. I especially want to let everyone know how truly appreciative the North Devils Hockey Board is of the families and supporters of the North Devils Hockey program. Hockey players spend a lot of time with teammates and we truly do become a “hockey family”. The commitment, the support, the encouragement that I have seen our families share with one another this year has surpassed all other seasons. I am so appreciative of the players and families that we are so fortunate to have. It has made our job so much easier this year and we are truly thankful to all of you.
Time is precious and each moment is a memory made. Enjoy your children while you can and encourage them every day to wake up with a smile and positive attitude and the world will be a better place! It all starts with wonderful people like you!
Please read below for a few North Devils highlights and reminders. It’s hard to believe we are entering the second half of the season and the Holidays are upon us!
TOURNAMENTS!
The past few weekends have brought much success and happiness for several of our North Devils players!
The Thanksgiving Tournaments held at NRI, Foxboro and Warwick kept our hockey families busy over the holiday weekends, with the Pee Wee Black, Pee Wee Red, Squirt Black, Mite Red and Mite White teams all earning the title of Tournament Champions! Several of these games were close and down to the last minute but the fans cheering them on in the stands encouraged the best of the best to prevail! A few of our other teams attended tournaments as well and hopefully enjoyed the extra ice time and spending some extra time with their hockey families! Our Squirt White and Pee Wee White teams participated in the Dusty Lardin Tournament in Franklin a month back. With the added ice time, both teams were able to rev up their skating, to bring back to their leagues and it shows each week in their Yankee Conference games.
We now are entering the second half of the season and our teams are ready to go! A few teams have realigned into higher divisions and the challenge has intensified. Our teams are all doing well and the season has gotten off to a very smooth start.
All MITE teams – please remember to make your hotel reservation for the LOBSTER POT before January 1st!
STATE PLAYDOWN GAMES
All Bantam, Pee Wee and Squirt teams have played their first games on the road to the State Tournament. All teams gave their hearts and souls. Our Pee Wee Red, Pee Wee White and Bantam Red teams have all won their first games and each are gearing up for GAME 2! Our Bantam Black Team has WON the District 5 Championship Title, beating a tough Martha’s Vineyard team 4-3, and is headed to STATES March 13-15! Pee Wee Red is taking on Falmouth this evening at the Falmouth Rink at 7:20pm. Pee Wee White is scheduled to play Cape Cod Canal at Lynch Arena at 5:10pm on December 20th and Bantam Red is awaiting their game schedule.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our teams for giving 100% effort! We are very very proud of all of you!
Good luck to our teams moving on…
UPDATE!!! North Devils Pee Wee Red beat Falmouth last night in a very intense 5-4 game! They move on to Game 3 to play the winner of the Barnstable /Canal game soon!
SANTA PARADE!
Yesterday’s Parade brought out many MITE AND SQUIRT smiling faces!
I watched them come down the street from afar and could not be any prouder of these children and their coaches and parents. Their enthusiasm is contagious and their smiles infectious. Their love for hockey exudes from their faces! Please see the pics on our website of all of the many proud hockey moments I’d like to share with you all.
CANNING
Our canning efforts have brought in over $4000.00 so far thanks to your time and commitment! I know that some parents may not look forward to this commitment but after you experience it once, parents generally are surprised at the generosity and kindness of our community. Our players are able to interact with the community and their smiles and infectious happy attitudes can only help to brighten someone’s day.
As mentioned, we have raised over $4000.00 so far and we have this weekend coming up where we are looking for a few open slots to be filled. Email
northhockey@comcast.net if you can fill.
Saturday, December 5, 2-4pm at Shaws (3 slots open)
Sunday, December 6th, 2-4pm at Douglas Liquors (1 slot open)
We anticipate our next and last canning date to be held on Superbowl Weekend. If you prefer to make payment of the fundraising fee, please send payment of $50.00 to North Devils Hockey, 50 Juniper Rd., B1, North Attleboro, MA 02760 and I will take your name off of our list. All volunteers are being tracked and those that do not fulfill their commitment will be billed the $50.00. (so sorry! Just need to be fair to everyone…)

COACH’S HOLIDAY GIFTS
It’s that time of year when we think of all of the people in our lives who we appreciate and would like to show signs of appreciation.
To be sensitive to our families during a time which for some, is financially stressful, we ask that there are no COLLECTIONS requested. We are not discouraging gift giving to the coaches or team admins, however we ask that people purchase for them on an individual basis.
We do hope that at the end of the season, at our year end banquet, families will be generous in their appreciation of the coaches and admins for a long hockey season! Team collections and contributions will be requested at the time.
That about wraps it up for now… Please be reminded that the High School season is starting next week. Bring the kids to catch a High School game! The games are fast paced and exciting and the players are motivated by encouraging fans! Games are played on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
Thank you once again for being such a great “hockey family”… If you ever have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me at
northhockey@comcast.net or reach out to your coach or team admin.
Happy December!
Patti McTernan
President, North Devils Hockey
