The Rocketeers traveled to Alexio arena and faced off against Coyle-Cassidy in support of the 18th Annual Matthews-Henshaw-Soderberg Jamboree. The game was an abreivatied one with both teams playing two 15 minute periods. The action was quick and the building was full of energy. Both teams were laying out some big hits and each had numerous scoring oppurtunities.
It was Erik Clements who put North on the board at the 10 minute mark of the first period with a nice move to the net from the left corner. He side-stepped two defenders and beat the goalie fivehole. Freshman goalie Ryan Warren supplied solid defense in between the pipes as Coyle fought to tie it in the waning minutes of the first period.
Coyle was able to sneak one past Warren at the midway point of the second period to tie it up. The energy remained high and both teams exchanged scoring chances but it was Norths' Freshman Anthony Zamiello who picked up a loose puck down low and fired a wrist shot on the Coyle netminder. The shot deflected off the goalies stick and fluttered up and over him and into the net for the go ahead and eventual game winning goal.
Ryan Warren remained strong and made numerous big saves to preserve the win for North.
Regular season begins on Wednesday evening against Mansfield at 8pm. Game is at the Foxboro Sports Center.
